Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance

Good attendance and punctuality are paramount to our pupils' success.

At St Vincent's, we want pupils to receive a full-time education that ultimately supports each pupil to thrive. Our school is a welcoming, caring place, whereby each member of the school community feels safety and belonging.

Our school staff will work with pupils and their families to ensure each pupil is here every day, ready to learn and on time. We have an effective system of incentives and rewards that acknowledges the efforts of pupils to improve their attendance and timekeeping, and we challenge the behaviour of those pupils and parents who give low priority to attendance and punctuality.

All illnesses must be reported to the office by 9:00am and on each consecutive day of absence.

If your child needs to visit the dentist or doctor please try to make appointments outside of school time if possible or at the end of the morning or afternoon session – evidence of all medical appointments must be provided for the absence to be recorded as authorised, e.g. appointment letters/cards.

Punctuality

Our school doors open at 8:45am so that your children can be settled in class and ready to begin learning at 8.55am prompt. We ask parents and carers to make sure that children are at school in good time each day as this helps to create a calm start to the day for your child.

Your child will be marked ‘late’ if they arrive into school after registration closes (9:01am – 9:06am).

Leave of absence

Holidays during term time will NOT be authorised unless there are EXCEPTIONAL circumstances. All requests for holidays or leave of absence during term time MUST be completed on an application form available at the school office for consideration by the Head of School.
