Collective Worship

We place Christ at the centre of all we do and therefore we feel that Collective Worship is one way in developing a way for children to develop a relationship with Jesus and come to know him better

Whole School Collective Worship – Mondays
Members of our teaching staff team lead the whole school in Collective Worship every week. These liturgies are based around our weekly statement to live by and the relevant Gospel readings. They are planned to help the children to reflect on specific actions we can take to be closer to God, finding ways to live our lives by sharing His Love, Kindness, Forgiveness and Charity. This Monday liturgy also gives opportunities to explore themes / reflections important to the school and its community.

Prayer and PraiseTuesdays
Each week, the children select the hymns and songs that they would like to sing, giving reasons for their choices.

Whole School Collective Worship – Wednesdays
Once a fortnight, the Junior Chaplaincy team plan and deliver the weekly liturgy supported by Mrs Collinge. Every other week, this worship is led by a class. This time allows children to be reflective and think of their own needs and the needs of others. The theme is closely linked with the liturgical year and the Gospel so that all members of the school community have an understanding of the readings, colours and messages we listen to and see on Sunday at Mass.

Class WorshipThursdays
The children take ownership of their learning and develop their own relationship with God. In the EYFS and KS1, teachers guide children to plan and lead prayer and liturgies. In KS2, the children plan and deliver their own liturgies. This time allows children to be reflective and think of their own needs and the needs of others. During this worship, the children will experience a range of different ways to pray.

Good News Worship - Fridays
Parents and carers are invited to celebrate our Good News Worship each week. Class teachers select children for a Good News award, as well as a child from each class who has been a shining example of our value of the week.
